MARIA TERNEUS, LCSW-QS, PMH-C FOUNDER + CEO OF BEYOND LIMITS PSYCHOTHERAPY
Maria Terneus (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Qualified Supervisor, and Perinatal Mental Health Certified (PMH-C) professional who specializes in integrative, trauma-focused care for women healing from complex and childhood trauma, as well as those experiencing perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. She supports clients through early adulthood transitions, those working to overcome deeply rooted trauma, and those walking through pregnancy and postpartum. Her focus includes addressing the emotional challenges of birth trauma, reproductive loss, postpartum rage, and anxiety—while helping gently heal the self-worth wounds and old narratives that make women question their value, their identity, or whether they’re ever doing enough.
Maria blends evidence-based modalities—such as EMDR and Internal Family Systems—with a warm, person-centered approach that allows clients to feel safe, understood, and supported. Rather than viewing clients through the lens of a diagnosis, she honors the whole person and works collaboratively toward stability, empowerment, and meaningful, lasting healing.
Fluent in Haitian Creole, Maria brings extensive experience working with diverse communities and individuals with complex psychiatric and trauma histories. She earned her MSW from Barry University in 2019 after five meaningful years supporting women survivors of chronic trauma in Haiti. Her career includes inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care, community mental health, and mobile crisis response.
Maria is also a certified 200-hour Registered Yoga Instructor and incorporates somatic, mindfulness-based, and regulation-focused practices into therapy when helpful. Her advanced clinical training includes EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Attachment-focused work, and mindfulness-based interventions.
Clients working with Maria can expect warmth, collaboration, and non-judgment. She prioritizes emotional safety and cultural humility, tailoring treatment to each individual’s needs. Her goal is to help clients—especially new and expectant parents—feel grounded, supported, and equipped with tools to navigate life’s challenges with resilience and self-compassion.
