MARIA TERNEUS, LCSW, RYT-200

Maria Terneus is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a passion for providing integrative and trauma-focused care. With extensive experience and education in trauma-informed practices, Maria offers empathetic, individualized support to each client. She views clients as capable individuals rather than as diagnoses, collaborating with them to achieve autonomy, healing, and stability.

Fluent in Haitian Creole, Maria has substantial experience working with people from diverse backgrounds and those with complex psychiatric histories. She earned her master's degree in social work from Barry University in 2019, following five years of work with women survivors of chronic trauma in Haiti. Maria’s professional journey includes roles in inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care, community mental health, and mobile crisis response.

Maria is also a certified 200-hour Registered Yoga Instructor, integrating mindful, holistic, and somatic-based practices into her therapy. Her additional training includes EMDR, Internal Family Systems, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Attachment Theory, and Mindfulness-based practices.

When working with Maria, clients can expect a warm, non-judgmental, and collaborative environment. She prioritizes creating a safe space where clients feel heard and supported. Maria’s approach is tailored to each individual’s unique needs, employing evidence-based techniques and holistic methods to facilitate growth and healing. Her goal is to empower clients with the tools and resources necessary to navigate life’s challenges and achieve personal well-being.

In 2023, Maria founded Beyond Limits Psychotherapy. She currently offers virtual therapy to women, teens, and LGBTQIA+ community members in Florida and North Carolina.
